Frequently Asked Questions
What does a typical Remedy pain relief session entail?
Sessions always start off with an assessment. We love the phrase "if you're not assessing, you're guessing". There's no way to know if you are improving throughout the session without first establishing a baseline. Once we do this, we then go ahead and work to improve the goal of the session, whatever that may be. As the session progresses, we continue to reassess your baseline level to ensure you are seeing continued progress throughout.
Based on your goal, a session may be centered around assisted mobility drills to improve active range of motion, or heavy resistance exercises to improve strength followed by high intensity intervals to improve work capacity. It all depends on what you are looking to achieve and what your body is telling you it needs on that specific day. We could be doing anything from squats or lunges to balance drills and foot mobility. Our body is one big system that requires a lot of different stimuli to perform its best, and our drills help it do that.
How quickly can I expect to see results?
Everyone's body is different and requires different levels of stimulus to create change. Often our clients experience significant improvement in their pain in just one session, sometimes even a matter of minutes, while others may need a little more exposure to see change. A lot of it depends on the history of the person, as well as their current state. If you check out our Testimonial Page, you can hear from others how quickly some of our drills could potentially work.
Do I have to keep coming back to continue to see improvement with my pain?
Not necessarily. Many people will see continual improvement with their pain after only a session or two. We believe in empowering you to help yourself feel better. There are 168 hours in a week and realistically, only a very small fraction of that can be spent with a Remedy Coach. While we would love to see you for a few hours a day, everyday, we realize that is unrealistic. Our drills help you continue to see improvement when you walk out the door and continue with "real life". If you haven't already, please reference our Testimonial Page for actual results from our clients and what they experienced after working with us.
Are you treating injuries? Is this the same as working with a physical therapist?
No. We do not treat injuries and are not physical therapists or doctors. Our drills are assisted mobility exercises that help improve movement. Sometimes better movement quality can reduce threat and improve pain levels, but we do not treat any injuries or pain. All of our drills are done pain-free. We never move into pain when we train.
Do I need equipment or a "home gym" to work with a Remedy Coach?
Absolutely not. If you do have some equipment at home or a dedicated space to train, great, but if not, we will provide the tools needed to help you see the results you're looking for. Plus, we also train out of a facility in Orchard Park if in-home training isn't for you.
How do your drills work?
We put together a video to better explain how a lot of our training works. Many of our drills improve movement of the joints in our body (hips, knees, shoulders, ankles) as well as some other muscles that may be less commonly trained (like our eyes and diaphragm). We deliver a full body approach to training and believe that many things can contribute to the way we move and how quickly we can achieve our goals. Diet, sleep, stress, past injuries, and current abilities can all factor in to the way our body performs.
How long do sessions last?
Sessions typically are 60 minutes, but sometimes the duration can vary based on goals and other factors.
Can I workout with a friend or family member?
Yes! A lot of the training we do is individualized and far from the cookie cutter approach, but if you have a training partner that you like to train with, a lot of times we can make it work. We understand that accountability is important for achieving goals and want to do all that we can to make your training sessions accustomed to your needs.
Also, we are offer group fitness classes if you feel that would better serve your needs. Check out our class schedule here!
